Ergo Proxy (2006)

You watched Ghost in the Shell and did not think it was esoteric enough, so you watched Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence. You thought it wasn't pretentious enough. Relies a bit too much on having taken a Philosophy 101 class but no other anime comes close to its aesthetic. Amazing music. Will require multiple rewatches or a companion guide.
